1. Acceptance
By accessing Cancel Atlas (the “Service”) you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. You must be at least 16 (or the age of majority where you live) and able to form a binding agreement.
2. Nature of the content — opinion grounded in disclosed facts
Cancel Atlas publishes scores and grades that are statements of opinion about how clearly each company publishes its subscription-cancellation terms. Each score is computed from a published, reproducible methodology applied to dated, cited, publicly available facts shown alongside it. Scores are not assertions that any company has acted unlawfully, nor findings about any individual’s actual cancellation experience. Facts are accurate as of the cited date and may change; the live dataset reflects the Documented-Policy tier only, with behavioural Verified-Flow audits pending.
3. No warranty
The Service and its data are provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. You use the information at your own risk and should verify against the cited primary sources.
4. Corrections & right of reply
We correct errors promptly. Any company or user may submit a correction or a right of reply via the Contribute / right-of-reply form. We aim to review substantiated requests in a timely manner. By submitting a correction, right of reply, or report, you grant Cancel Atlas a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual licence to use, reproduce, modify, and display your submission to operate and improve the Service, and you confirm you have the right to submit it. Submissions reflect their authors' views, not Cancel Atlas's editorial position.
5. Open data & API licence
The dataset and API are published under CC BY-SA 4.0 (attribution + share-alike) for non-commercial and compatible use. A commercial licence (waiving share-alike/attribution) is available — see Support. You must not misrepresent the data as endorsed by any rated company.
6. Acceptable use
Do not use the Service to harass, to scrape in a manner that degrades it, to remove attribution, or for any unlawful purpose. Automated access to the open API is welcome within reasonable limits.
7. Intellectual property
The Cancel Atlas name, design, and methodology are the property of Cancel Atlas. Company names and marks referenced belong to their respective owners and are used for identification and commentary; their use does not imply affiliation or endorsement.
8. Sponsorship neutrality
Sponsorship, licensing, contributions, and monitoring services never affect any company’s score. Sponsored placements are labelled, score-independent, and never shown as a rated company beside its own grade.
9. Payments, refunds & cancellation
Paid plans (Data & API, Monitoring, Backer support), one-time contributions, and sponsorship are governed by our Refunds & Cancellation policy, which forms part of these Terms. In short: you can cancel any plan at any time, yourself, at least as easily as you signed up; subscriptions stop at the end of the paid period and are not prorated; EU/UK consumers keep a 14-day right to cancel; contributions are not tax-deductible (we are a for-profit company, not a charity); and sponsorship never influences any score.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Cancel Atlas is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the Service. Where liability cannot be excluded under applicable law, our total aggregate liability is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us in the prior 12 months or US$100. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to their jurisdiction and venue. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you do so on your own initiative and are responsible for compliance with local law.
12. Termination & suspension
We may suspend or end access to the Service, or remove submitted content, for breach of these Terms or applicable law — without prior notice where immediate action is needed.
13. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Cancel Atlas and its operators from any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your submissions, your use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms.
14. Severability & entire agreement
If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest remains in effect and that provision is narrowed to the minimum extent needed to be enforceable. These Terms are the entire agreement between you and Cancel Atlas regarding the Service and supersede prior understandings.
15. Changes
We may update these Terms; the “last updated” date reflects the current version. For material changes we will post a prominent notice on the site, and your continued use after the change takes effect constitutes acceptance.
