YouTube Music scores 82/100 (grade B) for how clearly it documents cancellation in the US — a clearly documented cancellation policy. Cancellation is available via online (self-serve), in-app.

Last reviewed 2026-06-05 · Documented-Policy tier · grade B

YouTube Music Premium can be cancelled online at youtube.com/paid_memberships or through the Android/iOS app at any time; Apple-billed subscribers must cancel through their Apple account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — benefits continue until then and no further charges apply. No refund is issued for the remaining unused days of the current billing cycle; refunds are only considered if content/features did not work as expected. Monthly-plan subscribers (except Apple-billed) can pause for 1–6 months instead of cancelling outright.

How to cancel YouTube Music

  • Channels: online (self-serve), in-app
  • Official cancellation page: https://support.google.com/youtubemusic/answer/6308278
  • Pause/freeze: available — Monthly-plan subscribers can pause for 1–6 months via their paid memberships page; annual plans and Apple-billed subscriptions cannot be paused.
  • Account/data deletion: YouTube Music is tied to a Google Account; cancelling the subscription does not delete the account or its data. Users can delete their Google Account (which removes all associated data) via myaccount.google.com, or manage/delete YouTube activity data through 'Your Data in YouTube'. Uploaded music (Stored Music) is only accessible to the account holder and is subject to Google's data retention policies. https://myaccount.google.com/delete-services-or-account

Scope & fairness

This is the Documented-Policy tier: it measures how clearly the cancellation policy is published (cited, dated facts), not the behavioural experience of cancelling (Verified-Flow audit pending). Every company is scored on the same five dimensions with the same published weights — scores cannot be bought or removed. It is opinion grounded in disclosed facts, and not legal advice.
