How hard is it to cancel Sunrise?

Sunrise scores 50/100 (grade D) for how clearly it documents cancellation in the CH — a poorly documented cancellation policy. Cancellation is available via phone, in-app.

Last reviewed 2026-06-05 · Documented-Policy tier · grade D

Sunrise (CH) subscriptions (mobile, internet, and TV) can only be cancelled by phone (Mon–Fri 08:00–19:00) or via live chat (Mon–Fri 09:00–18:00); written cancellations by mail, fax, or email are explicitly invalid. A 60-day notice period to the end of the month applies, with no cancellation permitted before the minimum contract duration (typically 12 or 24 months) has elapsed — early termination incurs additional fees. No refund or proration terms are publicly documented for standard cancellations; customers who miss the notice deadline remain liable for further billing. Switzerland follows its own Federal Act on Data Protection (nFADP) rather than the EU CRD, so there is no EU-mandated one-click cancel button obligation.

How to cancel Sunrise

  • Channels: phone, in-app
  • Official cancellation page: https://www.sunrise.ch/en/support/contracts-and-customer-information/cancellation
  • Pause/freeze: available — Mobile subscriptions can be paused for 2–12 months at a fee of 5 CHF/month; the number is preserved and the minimum contract period is extended by the pause duration. Internet & TV subscriptions can be suspended for up to 6 months at no cost, but only after the minimum contract period has elapsed.
  • Account/data deletion: Customers can submit a written data access/erasure request to: Sunrise GmbH, Data Protection Office, Thurgauerstrasse 101 B, P.O. Box, 8152 Glattpark (Opfikon). An online 'Data Access Request' button is also available at the top of the data protection page. Data is deleted once retention purposes are fulfilled; backup copies may be retained for technical/legal reasons. https://www.sunrise.ch/en/general/legal-matters/data-protection

Scope & fairness

This is the Documented-Policy tier: it measures how clearly the cancellation policy is published (cited, dated facts), not the behavioural experience of cancelling (Verified-Flow audit pending). Every company is scored on the same five dimensions with the same published weights — scores cannot be bought or removed. It is opinion grounded in disclosed facts, and not legal advice.
