How hard is it to cancel Squarespace?
Squarespace scores 74/100 (grade B) for how clearly it documents cancellation in the US — a clearly documented cancellation policy. Cancellation is available via online (self-serve).
Self-serve online: Settings -> Subscriptions -> cancel each subscription individually (website and domain are SEPARATE — cancelling the site does not cancel the domain). Annual websites get a full refund within 14 days (none after; none for monthly plans). Domains are refundable only within 5 days of registration. You can take a refund immediately (lose access) or keep access to the cycle's end.
How to cancel Squarespace
- Channels: online (self-serve)
- Official cancellation page: https://support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/205810508-Canceling-a-website-subscription
- Pause/freeze: not offered. No pause. Cancelling ends the subscription at the cycle's end and unpublishes the site; export your content first.
- Refund policy: https://support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000623648-Refund-policies
- Account/data deletion: Cancelling a website subscription does NOT cancel your domain — each subscription must be cancelled separately. After cancellation your site is unpublished; export your content first. Account/data deletion is a separate privacy request (CCPA/GDPR).

Scope & fairness
This is the Documented-Policy tier: it measures how clearly the cancellation policy is published (cited, dated facts), not the behavioural experience of cancelling (Verified-Flow audit pending). Every company is scored on the same five dimensions with the same published weights — scores cannot be bought or removed. It is opinion grounded in disclosed facts, and not legal advice.
