SoftBank mobile contracts can be cancelled online via My SoftBank (9 AM–8 PM JST), in-store at a SoftBank Shop, or via MNP transfer; direct phone-only cancellation is not available. No advance notice period is required — cancellation takes effect immediately upon completion of the procedure (requests submitted outside business hours are processed from 9 AM the next business day). The final month is billed at the full monthly rate with no daily proration, regardless of cancellation date. Early termination fees were eliminated in February 2022 for most plans, though a new 12-month early cancellation fee applies to contracts signed from July 1 2026 onwards.

  • Pause/freeze: available — Temporary suspension (一時中断) is available via My SoftBank or in-store. Basic monthly fees and optional service fees continue to accrue during suspension; a ¥550 fee applies both to activate and to lift the suspension.
  • Account/data deletion: Personal data deletion requests must be submitted via SoftBank's Privacy Center. Process requires phone contact (0088-210-051, toll-free, Mon–Fri 9 AM–5 PM) for identity verification, after which SoftBank mails an application form; the completed form plus ID documents must be returned by post. https://www.softbank.jp/en/privacy/management/procedure/person/change/
