How hard is it to cancel Scaleway?

Scaleway scores 68/100 (grade C) for how clearly it documents cancellation in the FR — a partially documented cancellation policy with notable gaps. Cancellation is available via online (self-serve).

Last reviewed 2026-06-06 · Documented-Policy tier · grade C

Scaleway accounts and services can be cancelled at any time online via the Account Management Console (Organization Settings > Close account) or via API, with no notice period required from the client and no cancellation fee. Billing stops when services are terminated; each started billing unit is charged in full and all outstanding amounts become immediately due on termination. Content remaining after service cancellation is permanently deleted within 10 days. Consumer customers (FR) have a 14-day right of withdrawal with reimbursement within 14 calendar days, but this does not apply to fully performed digital services.

How to cancel Scaleway

  • Channels: online (self-serve)
  • Official cancellation page: https://www.scaleway.com/en/docs/account/how-to/close-account/
  • Pause/freeze: not offered. No pause/suspension option for client-initiated service holds is documented. Clients must manually terminate services to stop billing; deactivating an Organisation terminates all associated services within up to 10 days.
  • Account/data deletion: Upon account/service termination, remaining content is automatically and permanently deleted within 10 days (Art. 12.3 GTS). Full personal-data erasure (GDPR) is available via a separate request from the Account Management Console; processing takes at least 72 hours, all invoices must be paid, and no resources may have been used since the start of the current calendar month. https://www.scaleway.com/en/docs/account/how-to/manage-my-personal-data-gdpr/

Scope & fairness

This is the Documented-Policy tier: it measures how clearly the cancellation policy is published (cited, dated facts), not the behavioural experience of cancelling (Verified-Flow audit pending). Every company is scored on the same five dimensions with the same published weights — scores cannot be bought or removed. It is opinion grounded in disclosed facts, and not legal advice.
