Root auto insurance can be cancelled directly in the Root mobile app, where the customer selects a reason and chooses the policy end date; cancellation can also be requested by phone (866-980-9431, M-F 9am-8pm ET) or email ([email protected]). No advance notice period is required — the policyholder selects their own effective cancellation date. Any unearned premium refund is calculated on a daily pro rata basis, with up to 30 days for processing. Cancellation applies to all coverages, vehicles, and persons on the policy simultaneously; partial cancellations are not permitted.
