How hard is it to cancel RAC?
RAC scores 70/100 (grade B) for how clearly it documents cancellation in the GB, a clearly documented cancellation policy. Cancellation is available via phone, online (self-serve).
To cancel RAC breakdown cover you call the team on 0330 159 1111; cancelling the direct debit alone will not end the policy. There is a 14-day cooling-off period from the start, renewal or receipt of the policy booklet (whichever is latest) during which you get a full refund of premium, provided no claim was made. After the cooling-off period there is no premium refund and a £25 cancellation fee applies. The cooling-off right applies at the start only, not to auto-renewals. Auto-renewal can be switched off in the myRAC account settings, though cover still continues to the policy expiry date.
