How hard is it to cancel Preply?
Preply scores 73/100 (grade B) for how clearly it documents cancellation in the US — a clearly documented cancellation policy. Cancellation is available via online (self-serve), in-app.
Preply subscriptions can be cancelled self-serve via the website or mobile app by navigating to Subscription settings, tapping the three-dot menu next to a tutor's plan, and selecting 'Cancel subscription.' Cancellation stops auto-renewal; already-paid lesson credits remain usable if scheduled before the end of the current 28-day cycle, while unscheduled credits expire at cycle end. Refunds are granted only if no lesson credits were used during the period AND the payment was made less than 28 days ago; requests must be directed to [email protected]. As an alternative to cancellation, users can pause their subscription for up to 20 days per billing cycle.
How to cancel Preply
- Channels: online (self-serve), in-app
- Official cancellation page: https://help.preply.com/en/articles/6092685-how-to-manage-your-subscription
- Pause/freeze: available — Subscription can be paused for up to 20 days per 28-day billing cycle. Lessons can still be taken while paused. After the pause period, the next renewal is rescheduled from the new date.
- Account/data deletion: Self-serve account deletion available in Settings via a red 'Delete account' button; user must confirm with registered email. Deleting the profile does not cancel lessons or refund unused balance — those must be addressed beforehand. Preply's privacy policy states personal data is removed from active systems within 90 days. https://help.preply.com/en/articles/4179308-how-to-delete-your-profile

Scope & fairness
This is the Documented-Policy tier: it measures how clearly the cancellation policy is published (cited, dated facts), not the behavioural experience of cancelling (Verified-Flow audit pending). Every company is scored on the same five dimensions with the same published weights — scores cannot be bought or removed. It is opinion grounded in disclosed facts, and not legal advice.
