How hard is it to cancel Patreon?
Patreon scores 79/100 (grade B) for how clearly it documents cancellation in the US — a clearly documented cancellation policy. Cancellation is available via online (self-serve), in-app.
Patrons can cancel a paid membership online via the website (Manage memberships > Edit > Cancel) or through the mobile app (creator page > three-dot menu > Your membership > Cancel membership). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — access is retained until then and no further charges are made. Patreon does not offer automatic refunds; patrons may request a refund within 60 days of a charge through their Billing History, but approval is not guaranteed. Annual memberships are explicitly non-refundable except under extraordinary circumstances at Patreon's discretion.
How to cancel Patreon

- Pause/freeze: not offered. Members cannot pause their own memberships. Patreon does not offer a self-serve pause feature for patrons; to stop payments temporarily, a member must cancel and re-subscribe later. (Creators can pause billing for their fans, but that is a creator-side action.)

- Account/data deletion: Account erasure is self-serve via the Patreon Privacy Center (privacy.patreon.com). Submit an 'Erase' request; deletion takes up to 30 days with a 14-day cancellation window. Action is irreversible after the window closes. https://privacy.patreon.com/

Scope & fairness
This is the Documented-Policy tier: it measures how clearly the cancellation policy is published (cited, dated facts), not the behavioural experience of cancelling (Verified-Flow audit pending). Every company is scored on the same five dimensions with the same published weights — scores cannot be bought or removed. It is opinion grounded in disclosed facts, and not legal advice.
