Optimum scores 45/100 (grade D) for how clearly it documents cancellation in the US — a poorly documented cancellation policy. Cancellation is available via phone, in person.

Last reviewed 2026-06-05 · Documented-Policy tier · grade D

Optimum requires customers to cancel by phone (or in person at a store); there is no online self-serve cancellation for residential internet, TV, or phone services. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — payments are nonrefundable and there is no proration for partial billing periods. If canceling before the end of a promotional term, an early cancellation fee plus all outstanding charges applies. Equipment must be promptly returned after cancellation or customers are charged per-device fees.

Scope & fairness

This is the Documented-Policy tier: it measures how clearly the cancellation policy is published (cited, dated facts), not the behavioural experience of cancelling (Verified-Flow audit pending). Every company is scored on the same five dimensions with the same published weights — scores cannot be bought or removed. It is opinion grounded in disclosed facts, and not legal advice.
