How hard is it to cancel ÖAMTC?

ÖAMTC scores 58/100 (grade C) for how clearly it documents cancellation in the AT — a partially documented cancellation policy with notable gaps. Cancellation is available via post, email.

Last reviewed 2026-06-16 · Documented-Policy tier · grade C

Per the ÖAMTC statutes, membership ends at the end of the current year if the withdrawal (Austritt/Kündigung) is submitted in writing (email counts as written) by 31 October of that year; there is no online self-serve cancellation button. ÖAMTC accepts only written cancellations by post, fax, or email. The club year matches the calendar year and the annual fee is due 1 January, so missing the 31 October deadline extends membership by another year. Trial memberships and free child (0-14)/youth (15-19) memberships expire automatically and need no cancellation. No refund of unused fee is stated.

Scope & fairness

This is the Documented-Policy tier: it measures how clearly the cancellation policy is published (cited, dated facts), not the behavioural experience of cancelling (Verified-Flow audit pending). Every company is scored on the same five dimensions with the same published weights — scores cannot be bought or removed. It is opinion grounded in disclosed facts, and not legal advice.
