How hard is it to cancel O2 UK?

O2 UK scores 72/100 (grade B) for how clearly it documents cancellation in the UK, a clearly documented cancellation policy. Cancellation is available via online (self-serve), phone, in person.

Last reviewed 2026-06-05 · Documented-Policy tier · grade B

O2 UK requires 30 days' notice to cancel, which can be given via My O2 online, by calling 202 (from an O2 mobile), or in an O2 store; texting PAC (65075) or STAC (75075) is the fastest self-serve route and triggers the 30-day clock. Early termination charges apply for mid-contract cancellations: standard/SIM-only plans incur monthly tariff × remaining months minus 4%; O2 Refresh customers must pay the remaining device-plan balance. The final bill is issued 14 days after disconnection, and any credit balance is refunded within 30 days to the original payment method. There is no mandated single-click cancel button under UK law (unlike Germany's §312k BGB), but the online and text routes make initiation reasonably accessible.

Scope & fairness

This is the Documented-Policy tier: it measures how clearly the cancellation policy is published (cited, dated facts), not the behavioural experience of cancelling (Verified-Flow audit pending). Every company is scored on the same five dimensions with the same published weights, scores cannot be bought or removed. It is opinion grounded in disclosed facts, and not legal advice.
