Last reviewed 2026-06-16 · Documented-Policy tier · grade B

NRMA Insurance customers can cancel a car insurance policy in the NRMA Insurance App, or by logging into their online account, going to the Cancel Policy section and selecting Cancel Policy, choosing an immediate or future cancellation date; alternatively, call 132 132. A 21-day cooling-off period applies from start or renewal, within which a full refund is given if no claim has been made and no cancellation fee applies. Outside the cooling-off period, customers receive a refund of the unused (pro-rata) premium, less an admin fee of approximately $33. Customers are advised to cancel at least 3 business days before a billing or renewal date to avoid being charged for another term, and to request written confirmation of the refund amount.

Scope & fairness

This is the Documented-Policy tier: it measures how clearly the cancellation policy is published (cited, dated facts), not the behavioural experience of cancelling (Verified-Flow audit pending). Every company is scored on the same five dimensions with the same published weights — scores cannot be bought or removed. It is opinion grounded in disclosed facts, and not legal advice.
