How hard is it to cancel Mullvad?

Mullvad eliminated recurring subscriptions entirely in 2022; the service is now purely prepaid — you buy time blocks and service expires when time runs out, so there is nothing to "cancel" in the traditional sense. To stop being charged, simply do not top up your account. Refunds are available within 14 days of payment via email to [email protected] for credit card, PayPal, Google Play, Swish, and bank wire payments; cash and cryptocurrency payments are explicitly excluded. Account deletion requires emailing support, though accounts can also be abandoned since they contain no personal information.

• Pause/freeze: not offered. Mullvad does not offer a pause or freeze option; the service uses a prepaid time model where unused time simply runs out.

Because accounts are identified only by a randomly generated number (no personal info required), users can also simply abandon the account. Payment records are retained per Swedish Accounting Act requirements (approximately 7 years for statutory purposes), but activity and connection data are never logged. Support emails are auto-deleted after 70 days.
