How hard is it to cancel MTN Nigeria?
MTN Nigeria scores 41/100 (grade D) for how clearly it documents cancellation in the NG — a poorly documented cancellation policy. Cancellation is available via phone, in-app, in person, email.
Prepaid subscribers cancel value-added services (VAS) by dialling *305# and selecting 'Cancel All' or removing individual services; data auto-renewal is stopped by texting NO+[bundle code] to 312 or toggling it off in the MyMTN app — both take effect immediately with a confirmation SMS. Postpaid subscribers must give 30 days' written notice to cancel or vary their contract, and are liable for all monthly charges for the remaining contract period if they terminate early; security deposit refunds are processed at least 30 days after account reconciliation. No self-serve online cancellation portal exists; phone support is available on 180/300 and general email at [email protected]. Prepaid lines have no formal cancellation procedure: they auto-deactivate after 180 days of inactivity and the number is recycled after 360 days, at which point any remaining airtime is forfeited.

Scope & fairness
This is the Documented-Policy tier: it measures how clearly the cancellation policy is published (cited, dated facts), not the behavioural experience of cancelling (Verified-Flow audit pending). Every company is scored on the same five dimensions with the same published weights — scores cannot be bought or removed. It is opinion grounded in disclosed facts, and not legal advice.
