How hard is it to cancel MEO?

MEO customers can request cancellation via the MyMEO app or web portal (Profile > Support requests > Cancel contract), by phone, in-person at a MEO store, or through the Portuguese government's cessacaodecontratos.pt platform. The cancellation takes effect on a date the customer defines; the operator must confirm within 5 business days and the minimum processing time is 15 days from receipt of the request, with a maximum notice period of 30 days for post-loyalty contracts. Services continue to be billed through the effective cancellation date (no proration in the customer's favour). Early termination within a loyalty period incurs fees capped under Portuguese law (post-Nov 2022 contracts) at the lesser of the proportional subsidised equipment value or 50% of remaining payments in year 1 / 30% in year 2; penalties are waived for hardship circumstances such as unemployment, disability, or domestic violence with supporting documentation.
