How hard is it to cancel Memberful?
Memberful scores 75/100 (grade B) for how clearly it documents cancellation in the US — a clearly documented cancellation policy. Cancellation is available via online (self-serve).
Members cancel online by logging into their account and selecting 'Cancel subscription' from the Subscriptions menu, which stops auto-renewal; access continues until the end of the current billing period. There is no required notice period — cancellation takes effect at the next renewal date. Administrators can issue full or partial refunds via the dashboard, but Memberful does not refund payment processing (transaction) fees. A pause feature exists but is admin-only and not available as member self-service.
How to cancel Memberful
- Channels: online (self-serve)
- Official cancellation page: https://memberful.com/help/member-interface/manage-their-subscriptions/
- Pause/freeze: available — Pause is admin-initiated only (not member self-service). Admins have three methods: extend renewal date, apply a 100% coupon, or suspend the order. Suspended orders block member access; Memberful allows 30 days to recover payment before counting toward churn. No member-facing self-service pause option is documented.
- Account/data deletion: Closing a Memberful account deletes all data in compliance with their Data Protection policy. Account owners should export member data before closing. The Close Account option is in Settings at the bottom of the page. https://memberful.com/help/manage-your-account/close-your-account/

Scope & fairness
This is the Documented-Policy tier: it measures how clearly the cancellation policy is published (cited, dated facts), not the behavioural experience of cancelling (Verified-Flow audit pending). Every company is scored on the same five dimensions with the same published weights — scores cannot be bought or removed. It is opinion grounded in disclosed facts, and not legal advice.
