How hard is it to cancel Maxis?

Maxis scores 53/100 (grade D) for how clearly it documents cancellation in the MY — a poorly documented cancellation policy. Cancellation is available via phone, in person.

Last reviewed 2026-06-06 · Documented-Policy tier · grade D

Maxis postpaid and mobile plans can only be terminated by calling the customer care hotline (123 or 1-800-82-1123) or visiting a Maxis Centre in person; there is no self-serve online cancellation button. Charges are prorated from the last billing date to the termination date using the formula [active days / days in cycle x monthly fee], and any credit balance above RM30 can be claimed via an online refund request after the final bill is issued. Early termination fees apply if the customer holds an active device contract (e.g. Zerolution), and any promotional rebates may be forfeited. For Maxis Fibre, termination is initiated via Maxis Chat or the hotline, after which a specialist contacts the customer within 4 working days and equipment must be returned within 14 days.

How to cancel Maxis

  • Channels: phone, in person
  • Official cancellation page: https://www.maxis.com.my/en/faq/products-services/mobile/service-termination/
  • Pause/freeze: not offered. Maxis does not offer customer-initiated plan suspension or freeze. Fibre plans explicitly cannot be temporarily suspended. Maxis may suspend service unilaterally for non-payment or policy violations.
  • Account/data deletion: No explicit right to erasure offered. Personal data is retained for 7 years after the customer relationship ends, or longer if outstanding debts or disputes exist. Data-related requests can be directed to the Data Protection Officer at [email protected]. https://www.maxis.com.my/en/privacy-notice/

Scope & fairness

This is the Documented-Policy tier: it measures how clearly the cancellation policy is published (cited, dated facts), not the behavioural experience of cancelling (Verified-Flow audit pending). Every company is scored on the same five dimensions with the same published weights — scores cannot be bought or removed. It is opinion grounded in disclosed facts, and not legal advice.
