How hard is it to cancel Lyft?
Lyft scores 85/100 (grade A) for how clearly it documents cancellation in the US — among the most clearly documented cancellation policies we've scored. Cancellation is available via in-app, online (self-serve).
Lyft Pink (Lyft's paid membership) is self-serve cancelable: open the Lyft app menu, tap 'Lyft Pink', tap 'Manage Plan', then choose to pause, change, or cancel. No cancellation fees. Cancellation applies to the next billing cycle and you keep benefits until the end of the current period. Refunds are only given if you cancel before using any membership benefits in the current cycle; once benefits are used, no partial refunds. Membership can also be paused (up to 28 days). Plans auto-renew monthly/annually until canceled. Account/data deletion is separate: handled via app Help menu or lyft.com/privacy/data, applies to both rider and driver accounts, irreversible, with a target 45-day response.
How to cancel Lyft
- Channels: in-app, online (self-serve)
- Official cancellation page: https://help.lyft.com/hc/en-us/all/articles/360037342653-Lyft-Pink
- Pause/freeze: available — Lyft Pink can be paused via app menu > Lyft Pink > Manage Plan. Pause for up to 28 days at a time; monthly members can pause once per billing cycle, annual members up to twice per year. Pausing shifts the billing cycle or annual renewal date; you must select a future un-pause date.
- Account/data deletion: Delete account via app (Help > Profile and account > Delete my account) or website: lyft.com/privacy/data, sign in, under 'Delete account' tap 'Start', select a reason, type 'DELETE' to confirm. Applies to both rider and driver accounts; cannot be undone or restored. Lyft aims to respond within 45 days. Deletion may be denied for trust/safety/fraud issues. Lyft's help page states accounts/ride info are not covered by EU GDPR; download data before deleting. https://www.lyft.com/privacy/data

Scope & fairness
This is the Documented-Policy tier: it measures how clearly the cancellation policy is published (cited, dated facts), not the behavioural experience of cancelling (Verified-Flow audit pending). Every company is scored on the same five dimensions with the same published weights — scores cannot be bought or removed. It is opinion grounded in disclosed facts, and not legal advice.
