How hard is it to cancel Linear?

Linear scores 74/100 (grade B) for how clearly it documents cancellation in the US — a clearly documented cancellation policy. Cancellation is available via online (self-serve), email.

Last reviewed 2026-06-05 · Documented-Policy tier · grade B

Workspace admins cancel online via Settings > Workspace > Plans, or by emailing [email protected] (written confirmation required). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period (month or year), with no partial refunds for mid-cycle cancellations; a refund is only granted if Linear itself breaches the agreement. No pause or freeze option exists; the workspace downgrades to the Free tier on cancellation, retaining all existing data but limiting new issue creation beyond 250 total. Data deletion within 30 days is available on written request.

How to cancel Linear

  • Channels: online (self-serve), email
  • Official cancellation page: https://linear.app/docs/billing-and-plans
  • Pause/freeze: not offered. No pause or freeze option is documented. Cancellation downgrades the workspace to the Free plan at the end of the billing period; no mid-cycle suspension is offered.
  • Account/data deletion: Upon termination, Linear will delete Customer's User Information, passwords, files, and User Submissions within 30 days upon written request (ToS Section 5.3). If the account downgrades to Free rather than fully terminating, data is retained to support continued free use; however, Linear may delete all submissions if the Free account is unused for 12 or more months. https://linear.app/terms

Scope & fairness

This is the Documented-Policy tier: it measures how clearly the cancellation policy is published (cited, dated facts), not the behavioural experience of cancelling (Verified-Flow audit pending). Every company is scored on the same five dimensions with the same published weights — scores cannot be bought or removed. It is opinion grounded in disclosed facts, and not legal advice.
