How hard is it to cancel Kapwing?
Kapwing scores 88/100 (grade A) for how clearly it documents cancellation in the US — among the most clearly documented cancellation policies we've scored. Cancellation is available via online (self-serve), email.
Cancel self-serve in-account: go to the workspace's Settings > Billing tab > 'Cancel Subscription' (near bottom), complete the survey prompt, and confirm; a confirmation message and a downgrade date appear in Plan Information. Cancellation is effective at the end of the current billing cycle ('Customers have access to their paid features through the end of the billing cycle'), after which the workspace downgrades to the free tier with free limitations including reduced storage. Per the Refund Policy, Kapwing does not issue refunds once subscribed (a free tier exists), and gives none to users who fail to cancel before the renewal date. If a user cannot cancel via workspace settings, they must email/contact support before the renewal date with their account info and the email associated with the Kapwing account to avoid the next charge. No app-store billing caveat is documented (web/account billing).
How to cancel Kapwing
- Channels: online (self-serve), email
- Official cancellation page: https://www.kapwing.com/help/cancel-subscription/
- Pause/freeze: not offered. No subscription pause/freeze option is documented. Users may switch billing cycle (monthly/annual) or downgrade by canceling, which reverts the workspace to the free tier at period end.
- Refund policy: https://www.kapwing.com/policies/refund
- Account/data deletion: Self-serve account deletion at Account Settings: click the user icon (bottom left) > Account Settings > 'Delete Account' section > 'Delete your account and all associated data from Kapwing', confirm the warning, and (if on a paid plan) choose 'Continue to Delete All Data'. Deletion removes all account data and auto-cancels any subscription; it is explicitly NOT reversible and support cannot restore data. No GDPR/CCPA framework is referenced on the help page. https://www.kapwing.com/help/delete-account/

Scope & fairness
This is the Documented-Policy tier: it measures how clearly the cancellation policy is published (cited, dated facts), not the behavioural experience of cancelling (Verified-Flow audit pending). Every company is scored on the same five dimensions with the same published weights — scores cannot be bought or removed. It is opinion grounded in disclosed facts, and not legal advice.
