How hard is it to cancel JD Gyms?

JD Gyms scores 74/100 (grade B) for how clearly it documents cancellation in the UK — a clearly documented cancellation policy. Cancellation is available via online (self-serve), form.

Last reviewed 2026-06-16 · Documented-Policy tier · grade B

JD Gyms members cancel through an online cancellation form on the company website, which also cancels the Direct Debit; monthly members can alternatively cancel the Direct Debit at their bank. Monthly memberships are rolling and effectively require around 30 days because cancellation can take up to 30 days to process, with a final Direct Debit payment. Fixed (6 or 12-month) memberships are locked for the term and can only be cancelled early for defined hardship reasons (relocation over 15 miles, long-term illness/injury, redundancy, pregnancy), while the Annual Saver is non-cancellable and non-refundable. A 14-day cooling-off period from sign-up gives a refund of the joining fee and membership fees, though JD reserves the right to reduce it for gym usage. Memberships can be frozen for a minimum of 1 month with 14 days' notice, capped at 3 months per 6-month window.

Scope & fairness

This is the Documented-Policy tier: it measures how clearly the cancellation policy is published (cited, dated facts), not the behavioural experience of cancelling (Verified-Flow audit pending). Every company is scored on the same five dimensions with the same published weights — scores cannot be bought or removed. It is opinion grounded in disclosed facts, and not legal advice.
