iCloud+ scores 75/100 (grade B) for how clearly it documents cancellation in the US — a clearly documented cancellation policy. Cancellation is available via online (self-serve), in-app.

Last reviewed 2026-06-05 · Documented-Policy tier · grade B

iCloud+ can be cancelled through in-app Settings on iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple Vision Pro, through iCloud for Windows, or online via reportaproblem.apple.com for users without an Apple device. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — no immediate termination. Refunds are available where required by law; users who recently changed their plan may request a refund within 14 days through Apple's support system, but prorated refunds are not guaranteed as a standard practice. There is no pause or freeze option; the lowest tier available is the free 5 GB plan.

How to cancel iCloud+

  • Channels: online (self-serve), in-app
  • Official cancellation page: https://support.apple.com/en-us/108318
  • Pause/freeze: not offered. iCloud+ has no pause or freeze option; users can only downgrade to the free 5 GB tier or cancel outright.
  • Account/data deletion: Cancelling iCloud+ does not delete the Apple ID or iCloud data; it reverts storage to the free 5 GB plan and pauses syncing/backups if usage exceeds that limit. Full account and data deletion is handled separately through Apple's Data and Privacy portal (privacy.apple.com), where users can request permanent deletion of their Apple Account and all associated data. https://privacy.apple.com

Scope & fairness

This is the Documented-Policy tier: it measures how clearly the cancellation policy is published (cited, dated facts), not the behavioural experience of cancelling (Verified-Flow audit pending). Every company is scored on the same five dimensions with the same published weights — scores cannot be bought or removed. It is opinion grounded in disclosed facts, and not legal advice.
