HUK-Coburg accepts Kfz insurance cancellation through the online customer portal 'Meine HUK', by email ([email protected]), by post (registered mail recommended), by fax, or by phone with written confirmation. Ordinary cancellation must reach the insurer at least one month before the end of the insurance year, typically by 30 November for policies running to 1 January, after which the policy auto-renews for another year. Special cancellation rights (Sonderkündigungsrecht) apply within one month after a premium increase, after a claim is settled, or on vehicle sale. On vehicle de-registration the policy becomes dormant and overpaid premium (zu viel gezahlte Beiträge) is refunded.
