How hard is it to cancel HubSpot?

HubSpot scores 75/100 (grade B) for how clearly it documents cancellation in the US — a clearly documented cancellation policy. Cancellation is available via online (self-serve).

Last reviewed 2026-06-06 · Documented-Policy tier · grade B

HubSpot subscriptions are cancelled by turning off auto-renewal in Account & Billing > Subscriptions — the cancellation takes effect at the end of the current commitment term, not immediately, as mid-contract cancellations are not permitted. HubSpot recommends contacting a representative at least five business days before renewal. All fees are non-refundable except in specific cases such as HubSpot's material degradation of the service or a customer's valid termination for cause, in which a pro-rated refund of unused fees applies. After cancellation the account downgrades to the free tier; full account deletion is available once all paid commitments have expired.

How to cancel HubSpot

  • Channels: online (self-serve)
  • Official cancellation page: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/account/how-do-i-cancel-my-hubspot-account
  • Pause/freeze: not offered. HubSpot does not offer a pause or freeze option. Users may downgrade to the free tier or cancel auto-renewal to end their paid subscription at the next renewal date.
  • Account/data deletion: After a paid subscription ends, the account is downgraded to HubSpot's free tools. Users can then delete their account entirely via the Account & Billing > Delete Account tab, but only once all active commitments have ended. Contact-level permanent deletion (GDPR delete) is available in-product and may take up to 30 days to fully purge. https://knowledge.hubspot.com/account/how-do-i-cancel-my-hubspot-account

Scope & fairness

This is the Documented-Policy tier: it measures how clearly the cancellation policy is published (cited, dated facts), not the behavioural experience of cancelling (Verified-Flow audit pending). Every company is scored on the same five dimensions with the same published weights — scores cannot be bought or removed. It is opinion grounded in disclosed facts, and not legal advice.
