Final Fantasy XIV scores 77/100 (grade B) for how clearly it documents cancellation in the US — a clearly documented cancellation policy. Cancellation is available via online (self-serve).

Last reviewed 2026-06-06 · Documented-Policy tier · grade B

Subscribers cancel online through the Mog Station portal (mogstation.com) by logging in, selecting Service Account Status, and choosing Cancel Subscription — the only supported cancellation channel. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid billing cycle, so players retain full access for remaining prepaid days. Square Enix explicitly states no refunds are issued on subscription fees; the only exception is accidental charges during the free trial period. Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox subscribers must cancel through those respective platforms instead.

How to cancel Final Fantasy XIV

  • Channels: online (self-serve)
  • Official cancellation page: https://support.na.square-enix.com/faqarticle.php?id=5382&la=1&kid=68504
  • Pause/freeze: not offered. No pause or freeze option is offered. Players can cancel their recurring subscription and retain access through the end of the paid billing cycle, then reactivate at any time via Mog Station.
  • Account/data deletion: A Square Enix account can be permanently cancelled through the Account Management System (Account > Update Account Information > Cancel SQUARE ENIX Account). Cancellation is irreversible by the account holder; all content and services associated with the account are lost. Character and game data recovery may be requested through Square Enix Support after cancellation. https://support.na.square-enix.com/faqarticle.php?kid=12857&id=496&la=1&ret=main

Scope & fairness

This is the Documented-Policy tier: it measures how clearly the cancellation policy is published (cited, dated facts), not the behavioural experience of cancelling (Verified-Flow audit pending). Every company is scored on the same five dimensions with the same published weights — scores cannot be bought or removed. It is opinion grounded in disclosed facts, and not legal advice.
