How hard is it to cancel ESPN+?

ESPN+ scores 74/100 (grade B) for how clearly it documents cancellation in the US — a clearly documented cancellation policy. Cancellation is available via online (self-serve), in-app.

Last reviewed 2026-06-05 · Documented-Policy tier · grade B

ESPN+ subscriptions can be cancelled online via the ESPN billing portal or through the app; third-party subscribers (Apple, Google, Roku, Amazon) must cancel through those platforms. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle, with access continuing until that date. ESPN does not offer refunds or credits for partially used billing periods. No pause or freeze option exists.

How to cancel ESPN+

  • Channels: online (self-serve), in-app
  • Official cancellation page: https://support.espn.com/hc/en-us/articles/40377550796308-Cancelling-Your-ESPN-Select-or-Unlimited-Subscription
  • Pause/freeze: not offered. ESPN+ does not offer a pause or freeze option; the only alternative is to cancel and retain access through the end of the current billing cycle.
  • Account/data deletion: ESPN account deletion (distinct from subscription cancellation) is available at any time after canceling the subscription; it deletes name and email, anonymizes remaining account data, and unsubscribes from marketing emails, but does not cancel any active subscription. Deleting the account also removes access to other Disney-family experiences (except Disney+, Hulu, and MyDisney Identity). https://support.espn.com/hc/en-us/articles/30665234196500-Deleting-your-ESPN-Account

Scope & fairness

This is the Documented-Policy tier: it measures how clearly the cancellation policy is published (cited, dated facts), not the behavioural experience of cancelling (Verified-Flow audit pending). Every company is scored on the same five dimensions with the same published weights — scores cannot be bought or removed. It is opinion grounded in disclosed facts, and not legal advice.
