How hard is it to cancel EnergyAustralia?
EnergyAustralia scores 76/100 (grade B) for how clearly it documents cancellation in the AU — a clearly documented cancellation policy. Cancellation is available via online (self-serve), phone.
EnergyAustralia residential electricity and gas plans have no contract term and no exit fee, with a 10 business day cooling-off period from receiving the welcome pack during which the consumer can cancel without cost by telling EnergyAustralia orally or in writing, ending the contract immediately. To move out or stop supply, the consumer requests disconnection online (Request disconnection page / My Account) or by phone, giving at least 2-3 business days' notice so the disconnection and final meter read can be scheduled. Switching to another retailer is handled by the incoming retailer. The final bill covers usage to the disconnection date and may include a distributor disconnection or special meter-read fee (roughly $10-$90 depending on location); any outstanding device/equipment charges must also be settled. No early-termination fee applies to standard residential plans.

Scope & fairness
This is the Documented-Policy tier: it measures how clearly the cancellation policy is published (cited, dated facts), not the behavioural experience of cancelling (Verified-Flow audit pending). Every company is scored on the same five dimensions with the same published weights — scores cannot be bought or removed. It is opinion grounded in disclosed facts, and not legal advice.
