How hard is it to cancel EDP?

EDP scores 66/100 (grade C) for how clearly it documents cancellation in the PT — a partially documented cancellation policy with notable gaps. Cancellation is available via phone, online (self-serve), email.

EDP Comercial (Portugal) consumers can cancel without penalty by exercising the right of free resolution (direito de livre resolucao) within 14 days of contract signature, using EDP's official livre-resolucao form. After a valid free resolution EDP reimburses payments already made within a maximum of 14 days via the original payment method. To cancel outside that window, termination is requested by phone (selecting electricity/gas then contract cancellation), through the EDP customer area, or via the EDP form; for a switch to another supplier the new comercializador handles everything and the prior contract need not be terminated explicitly. No early-termination fee is stated for standard market contracts.

Scope & fairness

This is the Documented-Policy tier: it measures how clearly the cancellation policy is published (cited, dated facts), not the behavioural experience of cancelling (Verified-Flow audit pending). Every company is scored on the same five dimensions with the same published weights — scores cannot be bought or removed. It is opinion grounded in disclosed facts, and not legal advice.
