How hard is it to cancel Direct Energy?

Direct Energy residential customers cancel through their Online Account Manager or by contacting customer support by phone (e.g. 1-888-305-3828 in Texas), fax (1-800-346-2233), or email ([email protected]). Fixed or indexed term products incur an early cancellation fee that varies by contract term length and local utility if cancelled before the term ends, but no ETF applies when transferring service on a move. Rescission rights are stated as the ability to rescind by contacting Direct Energy or the utility within 10 calendar days after the utility's written switch-confirmation notice (Texas REP customers also have the standard 3-day right of rescission).
