Documented-Policy tier only. This score rates how clearly Deel's public cancellation page is published (cited, dated) — opinion grounded in disclosed facts, not a finding about the real cancel experience, and not legal advice. The behavioural Verified-Flow grade is pending.

How hard is it to cancel Deel?

Deel scores 54/100 (grade D) for how clearly it documents cancellation in the US — a poorly documented cancellation policy. Cancellation is available via online (self-serve), email.

Deel is a B2B HR/payroll platform billed around active contracts/workers, not a flat consumer subscription, so there is no single 'cancel subscription' button. Clients cancel a contract in-app: People icon > open the worker > View Contract > More menu > Cancel Contract > confirm. IMPORTANT caveat: a contract can only be 'cancelled' while it is NOT yet active; an already-active contract must instead be TERMINATED (a separate offboarding flow), and cancelled contracts can be reinstated. To remove the relationship entirely, contractors can self-delete their account (Profile Settings > Account Access > Delete Account, permanent); clients/other employees must contact Deel Support to delete an account. The help articles do NOT disclose any notice period, billing cutoff timing, proration, or refund terms for cancellation/termination - those would fall under the customer's MSA/Terms rather than the help center. No store-billing (Apple/Google) caveats apply (web/B2B platform).

How to cancel Deel

  • Channels: online (self-serve), email
  • Official cancellation page: https://help.letsdeel.com/hc/en-gb/articles/4407745399569-How-Clients-Can-Cancel-Or-Reinstate-Contractor-Contracts
  • Pause/freeze: not offered. No pause/freeze of billing or subscription is documented in Deel's help center. Billing is tied to active contracts/workers; to stop charges a client cancels a not-yet-active contract or terminates an active one. Note: a cancelled contract can be reinstated (returns to prior status), which is the closest equivalent to a temporary hold, but it is not a billing pause.
  • Account/data deletion: Contractors can self-serve delete their account: Log in > avatar > Profile Settings > Account Access > Delete Account, select a reason, confirm. The help article states this 'will permanently delete your Deel account.' Clients and other employees cannot self-delete and must contact Deel Support to request account deletion. No explicit GDPR/CCPA statutory language appears on this article (it sits under the 'Security & Privacy' section). https://help.letsdeel.com/hc/en-gb/articles/4407745447185-How-do-I-delete-my-account-on-Deel

Scope & fairness

This is the Documented-Policy tier: it measures how clearly the cancellation policy is published (cited, dated facts), not the behavioural experience of cancelling (Verified-Flow audit pending). Every company is scored on the same five dimensions with the same published weights — scores cannot be bought or removed. It is opinion grounded in disclosed facts, and not legal advice.
