How hard is it to cancel David Lloyd Clubs?

David Lloyd Clubs scores 48/100 (grade D) for how clearly it documents cancellation in the UK — a poorly documented cancellation policy. Cancellation is available via in person, email, in-app, postal mail.

Last reviewed 2026-06-05 · Documented-Policy tier · grade D

Cancellation requires written notice submitted by email to the home club, in person at reception, via the David Lloyd app, or by post — no purely online self-serve cancel button exists. Standard (12-month) memberships require 3 full calendar months' notice after the initial term; Flexible (3-month) memberships require 1 full calendar month's notice. A 14-day cooling-off period applies to new joiners, with a pro-rata deduction for days used. No refund is available after the cooling-off window; cancelling a Direct Debit does not constitute valid notice and members must continue payments until the notice period expires.

Scope & fairness

This is the Documented-Policy tier: it measures how clearly the cancellation policy is published (cited, dated facts), not the behavioural experience of cancelling (Verified-Flow audit pending). Every company is scored on the same five dimensions with the same published weights — scores cannot be bought or removed. It is opinion grounded in disclosed facts, and not legal advice.
