How hard is it to cancel DataForSEO?
DataForSEO scores 74/100 (grade B) for how clearly it documents cancellation in the US — a clearly documented cancellation policy. Cancellation is available via online (self-serve), live chat, email.
DataForSEO is primarily pay-as-you-go: you add a minimum of $50 to your account balance, funds never expire, and there is no required recurring monthly payment, so you can effectively stop being billed by simply not adding more funds or disabling auto-recharge. Certain APIs (e.g. LLM Mentions, Backlinks) use an optional auto-renewing monthly subscription (~$100/mo top-up) activated and managed from the Access Subscriptions page in the dashboard. Per the Terms of Service, 'All subscriptions will automatically renew at the end of Your subscription period until canceled by You. You will not receive further notice of auto-renewal.' Subscriptions are canceled through the account interface (the help center documents a self-serve dashboard but does not give explicit click-by-click cancellation steps for the subscription itself). Refunds: a 30-day no-question refund applies only to first-time purchases of API credits; funds added within the last 30 days can be refunded by contacting support; there are no refunds or credits for partial months of service, plan downgrades, or unused time if you close your account. Account/data deletion is fully self-serve from the Profile section and permanently erases user data and API usage statistics. 24/7 live chat support is available to both paid and trial users. No in-app-store billing applies (this is a developer API platform billed directly).
How to cancel DataForSEO
- Channels: online (self-serve), live chat, email
- Official cancellation page: https://dataforseo.com/terms-of-service
- Pause/freeze: not offered. No pause/freeze option is documented. The core service is pay-as-you-go with funds that never expire, so usage can effectively be stopped by simply not adding funds. For the optional auto-renewing API subscriptions (e.g. LLM Mentions, Backlinks) there is no documented pause; the only documented stop is cancellation via the account's Access Subscriptions interface.

- Account/data deletion: Account deletion is fully self-serve: log in, click the profile icon (upper-right), go to the Profile section, select 'Delete Account' and confirm. On deletion, user data plus API usage statistics and associated data are permanently erased from DataForSEO's servers and the account cannot be restored. DataForSEO advises requesting any refund of funds added within the last 30 days (via support) BEFORE deleting. The help page does not explicitly cite GDPR/CCPA. https://dataforseo.com/help-center/delete-dataforseo-account

Scope & fairness
This is the Documented-Policy tier: it measures how clearly the cancellation policy is published (cited, dated facts), not the behavioural experience of cancelling (Verified-Flow audit pending). Every company is scored on the same five dimensions with the same published weights — scores cannot be bought or removed. It is opinion grounded in disclosed facts, and not legal advice.
