How hard is it to cancel bunq?
bunq scores 78/100 (grade B) for how clearly it documents cancellation in the NL — a clearly documented cancellation policy. Cancellation is available via online (self-serve), email.
To downgrade or change a bunq paid plan (Easy Bank/Money/Green), open the app, tap Profile > Plan > Switch Plan and select the desired plan; you must keep at least one active Bank Account to serve as the billing account. A downgrade takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle (only upgrades from Free apply immediately), so paid features remain until then. If you downgrade to a plan with fewer physical cards, the excess cards are frozen and non-functional rather than cancelled. Refunds are limited: you can request one via in-app chat only if you have been billed no more than three times and never had a prior refund, and bunq refunds the most recent invoice only. Data erasure can be requested via chat or [email protected], subject to legal retention.

Scope & fairness
This is the Documented-Policy tier: it measures how clearly the cancellation policy is published (cited, dated facts), not the behavioural experience of cancelling (Verified-Flow audit pending). Every company is scored on the same five dimensions with the same published weights — scores cannot be bought or removed. It is opinion grounded in disclosed facts, and not legal advice.
