Last reviewed 2026-06-05 · Documented-Policy tier · grade A

Basecamp cancellation is fully self-serve online through account settings — no phone call, no retention flow, no forms. Cancellation takes effect immediately for most products; paid HEY accounts retain access through the end of the billing period. No automatic proration is applied to unused time on monthly plans, but Basecamp offers generous case-by-case refunds via support (e.g., for forgotten accounts, accidental renewals, or dissatisfaction); annual plans are prorated back to the card upon cancellation. No pause option exists and data is permanently deleted 30 days after cancellation (60 days from backups).

Scope & fairness

This is the Documented-Policy tier: it measures how clearly the cancellation policy is published (cited, dated facts), not the behavioural experience of cancelling (Verified-Flow audit pending). Every company is scored on the same five dimensions with the same published weights — scores cannot be bought or removed. It is opinion grounded in disclosed facts, and not legal advice.
