How hard is it to cancel Avast?

Avast scores 77/100 (grade B) for how clearly it documents cancellation in the US — a clearly documented cancellation policy. Cancellation is available via online (self-serve), in-app, phone, email.

Last reviewed 2026-06-05 · Documented-Policy tier · grade B

Avast subscriptions can be cancelled online via the Avast Account portal (id.avast.com), through the Google Play or App Store for mobile purchases, or by contacting support via phone or chat. Cancellation stops auto-renewal; the subscription remains active until the end of the current paid period. A 30-day money-back guarantee applies to purchases made directly through Avast's website, Windows/Mac app, or Google Play — a full refund is issued within that window, and a pro-rated refund of remaining days is available after 30 days for annual renewals. Cancelling renewal alone (without a refund request) carries no refund.

How to cancel Avast

  • Channels: online (self-serve), in-app, phone, email
  • Official cancellation page: https://www.avast.com/en-us/cancellation-refund-policy
  • Pause/freeze: not offered. Avast does not offer any pause or freeze option for subscriptions; cancellation terminates auto-renewal and access continues until the end of the paid period.
  • Refund policy: https://www.avast.com/en-us/cancellation-refund-policy
  • Account/data deletion: Avast's cancellation and refund policy pages do not document a self-serve data or account deletion flow; no explicit retention period or deletion request mechanism is disclosed on the cancellation help pages.

Scope & fairness

This is the Documented-Policy tier: it measures how clearly the cancellation policy is published (cited, dated facts), not the behavioural experience of cancelling (Verified-Flow audit pending). Every company is scored on the same five dimensions with the same published weights — scores cannot be bought or removed. It is opinion grounded in disclosed facts, and not legal advice.
