How hard is it to cancel AT&T Internet?

Phone-only as of 2026: call 800-288-2020 and select 'cancel service' — online, mail, and in-store cancellation are no longer offered for most plans (legacy DSL can still cancel online). AT&T Fiber has no annual contract and no early-termination fee; legacy contracts charge a prorated ETF up to $180 (1-yr) / $360 (2-yr). 14-day grace from activation with no ETF.

• Pause/freeze: not offered. No self-serve pause for internet; a temporary suspension / vacation hold may be available by phone in some areas, but it is not a documented standard option.
• Account/data deletion: Cancelling does not delete your account or data; AT&T retains customer records (including CPNI) per its policy. Personal-data deletion is a separate privacy request (CCPA) via AT&T's privacy center / 'Your Privacy Choices'.
