How hard is it to cancel Alinta Energy?

Alinta Energy residential electricity and gas plans generally have no lock-in or exit fees (though exit fees can apply to some fixed-term contracts cancelled early), and new customers have a 10 business day cooling-off period from receiving contract documents during which they can cancel without penalty. To close or cancel when moving out, the consumer contacts Alinta customer support or submits a request through their online account, providing account details and a preferred disconnection date; Alinta requires at least 3 business days' notice. Switching to another retailer is initiated by the new retailer. A final bill is issued for the closed account and may include a distributor disconnection fee (roughly $15-$120+, set by the distributor); any outstanding balance must be cleared on cancellation.
