Aldi Talk is a prepaid service; the SIM deactivates on its own if not recharged, but a formal cancellation ('Vertrag kuendigen' at the customer portal) is needed to take the number elsewhere. Number portability (Rufnummernmitnahme) can be requested from 4 months before the cancellation date up to 30 days after contract end, and is free since the Dec 2021 TKG amendment; successful porting earns a EUR 10 bonus. Porting is requested by contacting the current provider (phone recommended) or in writing by email/letter using a downloadable form, and must arrive no later than one month after contract end. GDPR deletion rights (Art. 17) are available via the online customer account.
