AGL residential energy plans have no lock-in contract and no exit/early-termination fee, with a 10 business day cooling-off period after signing during which a consumer can cancel penalty-free. To stop supply when moving out, the consumer closes/disconnects the account online via My Account or the AGL app (Live Chat, choosing a disconnection date) or by calling 131 245; switching to another retailer is initiated by the new retailer and does not require disconnection. AGL advises giving at least 3 business days' notice so a final meter read can be taken. The final bill covers usage to the disconnection date and may include a distributor disconnection or special meter-read fee, which is set by the network distributor rather than AGL. There is no exit fee on standard residential plans.

Scope & fairness

This is the Documented-Policy tier: it measures how clearly the cancellation policy is published (cited, dated facts), not the behavioural experience of cancelling (Verified-Flow audit pending). Every company is scored on the same five dimensions with the same published weights — scores cannot be bought or removed. It is opinion grounded in disclosed facts, and not legal advice.
