How hard is it to cancel AAMI?
AAMI scores 84/100 (grade B) for how clearly it documents cancellation in the AU — a clearly documented cancellation policy. Cancellation is available via online (self-serve), in-app, phone.
AAMI customers can cancel a car (excluding CTP/MAI), home or landlord policy online 24/7 by logging into My Account, or via the AAMI Virtual Assistant by selecting 'Cancel your policy' from the Help Centre; phone cancellation is on 13 22 44. Policies carry a 21-day cooling-off period from the start or renewal date, and cancelling within that window gives a full refund if no claim has been made. After the cooling-off period, customers can cancel anytime and receive a pro-rata refund of the unused premium, minus mandatory government charges; AAMI does not charge cancellation or admin fees, and refunds under $10 are not processed. Compulsory CTP/MAI policies must be cancelled by contacting AAMI directly.

Scope & fairness
This is the Documented-Policy tier: it measures how clearly the cancellation policy is published (cited, dated facts), not the behavioural experience of cancelling (Verified-Flow audit pending). Every company is scored on the same five dimensions with the same published weights — scores cannot be bought or removed. It is opinion grounded in disclosed facts, and not legal advice.
