How Cancel Atlas makes money
Cancel Atlas is an independent, no-tracker public-interest index. We sell no cancellation service, so we have no stake in any company's grade. This page explains how we're funded and — more importantly — the wall between that money and the scores.
The firewall
Every score is computed only from the published methodology (CES-1.1): five disclosed-policy dimensions, fixed public weights, each cited to the company's own pages. Sponsorship is a separate ledger that touches none of those inputs. A reader can reproduce any score from the cited evidence without knowing anything about who pays us.
The invariant — what money cannot buy
- Sponsorship buys visibility, never ranking or grades. Search and rankings are ordered by merit (the score), never by who paid.
- You cannot pay to improve, remove, or hide a grade — or to take down a "did not pass". Corrections are made only against cited evidence.
- Sponsored placements are always labeled ("Sponsored", "Featured supporter — paid placement") and visually separated from the ranked index.
- If a sponsor is also a graded company, we disclose the relationship on its page and its grade is shown unchanged — never suppressed or inflated.
How we're funded
- Featured supporter / Category sponsorship — clearly-labeled placements.
- Data & API access — bulk/licensed access to the open dataset.
- Monitoring — re-audit cadence for a brand (how often we re-check), which buys frequency, not a better grade.
- Donations — pay-what-you-want support.
Current sponsors: none yet — Cancel Atlas is in its founding phase.
What we don't do
No third-party ad networks, no trackers, no behavioural advertising (it would break our strict content-security policy and our no-tracking promise). No pay-to-rank. No paid removals.
